Treating Hips, Shoulders and the SI Joint Successfully

Attendees will learn to differentiate most major shoulder, hip, and SI joint pathologies. With this information, the workshop will then present specific protocols for treatment of these pathologies. Included will be a demonstration of needle techniques and myofascial massage techniques to better treat these pain syndromes. Mark Kastner

Mark Kastner, an Acupuncturist and Herbalist licensed by the California State Board, has been in private practice since 1987. Mark studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China and completed his degree at California Acupuncture College in San Diego, California. He is the author of Alternative Healing (Henry Holt Publishing, New York, 1996), a complete A-Z guide to more than 150 complimentary therapies. He also published a novel entitled “Closing the Circle” (Lotus Publishing, San Diego, 2008), which delves into healing interpersonal relationships. As a pioneer and specialist in the field of Holistic Health, Mark has actively been involved in the local promotion of integrative medicine. He started a revolutionary radio talk show, The Alternative Medical Hour, which was a weekly informational forum for complementary medicine. Mark has made numerous guest appearances on KNSD news (local affiliate of NBC) as the Holistic Medical Adviser responding to viewer’s questions. He has been featured in several articles in the San Diego Union-Tribune to date. Over the last Five years he has been teaching Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Pacific College of Oriental Medicine’s graduate program. Over the years Mark has worked with numerous major sports teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, San Diego Padres, and San Diego Chargers. Understanding the need to educate the public, Mark’s goal is to bring holistic medicine to the forefront and integrate it with Western therapies.
